Officials of Daugherty Property Group just announced the grand opening of the Hilton Garden Inn along with the grand opening of the Texarkana Convention Center. The hotel houses 154 rooms total while the convention center is a 25,000-square-foot center designed to accommodate large and medium-sized events.
The Hilton Garden Inn at the Texarkana Convention Center is the first upscale hotel for the city that also offers all the services of a full-service hotel. The hotel, along with the convention center, signals an effort by city officials to encourage Texarkana’s emergence as a destination for local events and large regional conventions.
According to Partner with Daugherty Property Group Jack Daugherty, “We’ve owned and managed hotels and restaurants in Texarkana for more than 20 years, and the opening of this hotel, our fifth in the city, along with the new convention center, present unique opportunities for unprecedented growth in Texarkana. As a local resident and business owner in Texarkana, I am extremely encouraged by this development and proud to be associated with the city officials who had the forethought to put this project in motion more than eight years ago.”
Texarkana Mayor Bob Bruggeman added, “It is thrilling to witness our community’s vision of a comprehensive events center come to fruition. The unparalleled sense of excitement this development has created will provide opportunities for us to share Texarkana with visitors from throughout our region. No doubt, they will enjoy a first class experience with hospitality second to none.”
Daugherty has stated that the center has already proven to be an important economic driver as several major events, including the Toyota Tundra Bass Masters Event, the Arkansas Audubon Society and Texas Association of School Board Leaders have already booked the hotel and the convention center. In addition to that, several other fundraisers, holiday banquets, weddings and corporate events are projected to bring more than 150,000 attendees to the convention center in its first year. “We are extremely excited about the potential impact the Texarkana Convention Center will have for the greater Texarkana area for years to come,” Daugherty added.
